As our new Benefits Analyst you will administer a variety of employee benefits programs, from 401k plans to group health & dental, leaves and disability. Additionally, you will be responsible for data management, reporting and analysis related to all plans and associated carriers. We are also looking for someone who wants the opportunity to find new and creative solutions to process improvement and automation while leveraging their technical expertise and understanding of downstream implications.
For the immediate future this role will be virtual and working from home as the safety of our employees is our top priority. Going forward, we would like this individual to be able to utilize an Altus office in either Houston, Chicago or Hunt Valley, MD – working from home flexibility will continue even after we officially return to offices.

What our new Benefits Analyst will do:
401(k) Plan Administration:
-Complete all plan administrator duties:
-Approve/sign all amendment plan changes from Fidelity
-Process ROEs as required
-Validate, sign/approve hardship loans
-Validate, sign/approve all rollover or rollout requests
-Review and process MDRs (if applicable)
-Process, approve & sign QDRO requests including consultation with ERISA attorney (if required)
-Manage annual audit & prepare and provide data/reports as requested by auditor (work with Altus Payroll, accounting, etc.) including researching and resolving IRS notifications and issues
-Perform regular audits between payroll & Fidelity to ensure accuracy of deferrals, loans and auto-enrollments; Review true-up calculations for Payroll
Data Management, Audits & Reconciliations, Reporting & Analysis:
Perform regular reconciliations of all systems (payroll, invoices, carrier systems) and partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity:
Reconcile the calculation of the monthly premium statements & submit monthly invoices for payment to all carriers across North America. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives and/or internal Finance department as required
Reconcile benefits premiums received or paid vs. payroll records for all applicable LOAs
Verify for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs
Process Improvement & Automation:
Partners with internal departments (Finance, HRIS, Payroll, IT, etc.) as well as external vendors to investigate and analyze options to remove redundancies, streamline, partially or fully automate current processes:
-Look for opportunities to leverage technology (i.e. option of interfaces) to reduce total work effort required for benefits and benefits deductions (payroll) transactions
-Look for opportunities to generate process improvements across departments and within TR team’s processes to again reduce time and work effort
Annual Benefits Open Enrollment:
-Supports the annual open enrollment by executing the overall project plan for annual open enrollment (may include follow up with internal team or external providers on action items)
-Participate in systems requirements, set-up, testing and implementation with technology provider and benefit carriers
Leave & Disability Management:
-Administer the day-to-day operations of FMLA, Workers Comp, STD and LTD plans
-Administrator for all leaves of absences (FMLA, Parental, STD, LTD etc.) in accordance with leave policies and federal/state laws and regulations.
Our new Benefits Analyst will have:
-The Education. You have a diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
-The experience. You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in group benefits and 401k plans and ideally the CEBS certification.
-The technical skills. You have intermediate Excel skills including Vlookups and the ability to handle large data sets. Ideally, you have experience with ADP WorkforceNow as well as Workday (or other enterprise HRIS systems).
-The attention to detail. You are focused and meticulous in your work and comfortable processing and maintaining a high volume of files. You understand how benefits impact payroll. You have experience working under tight deadlines.
-The Creativity. You have the ability to think differently and have an eye for the continuous improvement of processes and systems. Your opinion will be valued and will have impact.
