Domenic Barbiero FCIA, FSA

Domenic Barbiero is a principal and consulting actuary on the pension and benefits team of Eckler Ltd. He has over 20 years of experience as a pension consultant; he leads Eckler’s Trusteed Plans consulting group and co-leads the firm’s pension practice. Barbiero specializes in consulting to multi-employer and jointly trusteed clients and has extensive expertise in funding and solvency valuations, plan design/ restructuring, governance, plan mergers, negotiations and administration. He has played a key role in providing trustee education as well as presenting at plan membership meetings and professional and industry conferences. Barbiero serves as a member of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario Defined Benefit/Target Benefit MEPP Advisory Committee. In addition, he has developed content for Canadian Institute of Actuaries examinations, has participated on actuarial examination committees and currently serves on actuarial advisory boards for various universities. Barbiero holds an honours bachelor of science degree in actuarial science from the University of Toronto and is a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries.
