Position Summary:
As a Benefits Specialist, you will support the day-to-day activities required to maintain and administer all Minnesota Twins employee benefit plans. This role collaborates closely with the HR/Payroll team to ensure seamless integration of benefit processes within the HRIS and accurate reporting. As a key contributor, the Benefits Specialist plays a critical role ensuring employees have a comprehensive understanding of their benefits while maintaining compliance with legal and club requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including but not limited to group health, flexible spending accounts, dental, vision, Tuition Assistance, College Scholarship Program, PTO, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), pension, wellness benefits and others.
- Process payments for benefits programs and ensure accurate billing and payroll deductions in collaboration with Payroll.
- Manage/review ACA data and submissions ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Verify and reconcile monthly premiums statements for group insurance policies, maintaining statistical data on premiums, claims and costs.
- Assist employees with health, dental, life, and other related benefit claims.
- Conduct new employee benefit orientations to ensure understanding and engagement with available programs.
- Prepare and deliver benefit education meetings and materials designed to help employees understand and maximize their benefits and other related incentive programs.
- Maintain HR department intranet pages related to Perks, Benefits homepage and individual benefit plan pages.
- Research new benefits and services based on emerging market trends, benchmarking analysis, best practices, and employee feedback.
- Manage the annual enrollment process, including communication and preparation of annual compensation letters for full-time employees.
- Manage the Spring Training Minor League documentation process to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Participate in benefit plan audits and compliance reviews, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and accessible.
- Ensure the distribution of required employee notices and legal disclosures.
- Ensure all benefits information is up to date in the HRIS/Benefits system and collaborate with Payroll to resolve billing and deduction discrepancies.
- Generate and analyze reports related to benefits programs, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in system configuration, troubleshooting and data integrity within the HRIS to support benefits, payroll and HR processes.
- Support HR technology projects, including testing, process improvement, and implementation of new system features to enhance the employee experience and operational efficiency.
- Support the family lounge operations and other related duties as assigned.
Requirement Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in benefits administration.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms.
- Experience with compliance requirements, including ACA, ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA.
- Must be willing to travel 10%.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish.
- CEBS Certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds.
- Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer, keyboard and telephone.
- Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be comfortable navigating the facility to access the office, dining room, etc.
- Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 annually. This role is also eligible for a performance-based bonus, which varies based on company and individual performance. Total cash compensation will depend on bonus payouts and will likely exceed base salary.
