Young Professionals Scholarship

In an effort to advance the knowledge of young employee benefits professionals and encourage their future participation as volunteers in the benefits industry, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS) have created a scholarship opportunity.

About the Scholarship

  • Six scholarships will be presented annually.
  • Scholarships include conference registration to the winner’s choice of:
    • U.S. Annual Employee Benefits Conference
    • Canadian Annual Employee Benefits Conference
    • ISCEBS Employee Benefits Symposium
  • Travel and hotel expenses are the responsibility of the scholarship winner.
  • The scholar must be nominated by a member of the International Foundation or ISCEBS who is a professional service provider (e.g., accountant, actuary, third-party administrator, attorney, insurance representative), a multiemployer trust fund (as administrative staff) or a single employer plan sponsor.
  • The nominator must accompany the winner (or designate another person from the member organization) to serve as a guide and mentor for the scholarship winner. Conference registration fee and travel/hotel expenses for the nominator are not included in the scholarship.

Criteria for Scholarship Applicants

  • Must be age 35 or under.
  • Employed full- or part-time by a professional service provider (e.g., accountant, actuary, third-party administrator, attorney, benefit broker, consultant, insurance provider), a multiemployer trust fund (as administrative staff) or a single employer plan sponsor member of the International Foundation or ISCEBS.
  • Preference for those with less than five years of experience in the benefits field.
  • Demonstrated interest in benefits and potential for future engagement with the International Foundation or ISCEBS.
  • Preference for those who have not previously attended an International Foundation or ISCEBS conference. Course participation (e.g., CEBS®, Certificate Series, online learning) is encouraged and will not disqualify applicant from consideration.
  • Must be willing to participate in video and/or print interviews as well as focus groups regarding experience at the chosen event.

Application Process

  1. Submit application.
  2. Attach letter of recommendation from an International Foundation and/or ISCEBS member indicating why the nominee would benefit from attending one of the selected International Foundation/ISCEBS conferences.
  3. Attach current resumé.
