OFSI Issues Final Instruction Guides for Registration of DB and DC Plans

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) issued final versions of the 2022 instruction guides and application forms for registration of a defined benefit (DB) pension plan and registration of a defined contribution (DC)  pension plan. The revisions reflect the 2020 Agreement Respecting Multi-Jurisdictional Pension Plans and include other updates to clarify the instructions for completing the application forms.

OSFI issued revised draft instruction guides and application forms for consultation on February 24, 2022. No comments were received as part of the DB consultation, however OSFI made minor changes to the DB Instruction Guide and the Application form based on feedback received from the DC consultation. The annex includes a summary of comments received with respect to DC plans.
