SSP America is hiring a Senior Benefits Data Specialist who will be working as a liaison between employees, managers, unions, and third parties to coordinate benefit plan administration activities, setting expectations that employees are aware of their eligibility, responsibilities and of any documentation and notices required to participate in benefit plans. 

In office (Ashburn, VA) – 5 days per week, hybrid schedule potential after successful completion of onsite training period. 
Pays $57,000 - $59,000 per year.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the benefits department, providing excellent customer service and assists with administering employee benefit plans. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues, identifies and makes recommendations for process improvements and serves as a liaison between the company and both internal and external customers.
  • Collaborates internally setting expectations for integrity of all benefit plan and employee data. 
  • Responds accurately and effectively to employee questions regarding benefit plans.
  • Update benefit data in HRIS, assisting in reporting, preparing court order requests, responding to union inquiries, etc.
  • Complete research as needed, to resolve issues and put closure to outstanding concerns and issues.
  • Process benefits elections, changes, and cancellations.
  • Coordinate and administer employee communication letters and required communication notices per ACA compliance and arrears administration. 
  • Responds to employee inquiries, assisting operations team members with information regarding SSP plans, union plans, HRIS technical questions, etc.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of new benefit program.
  • Assist in coordination of annual open enrollment activities.
  • Provide support as needed on special projects and department initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager. 

Qualifications

  • Preferred successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in human resource management (or international equivalent) or another related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a matrixed, corporate, union environment within the US. Employee benefit plan and payroll experience is a plus.
  • Must be technically proficient in US federal, state, and local employment laws. Canadian expertise a plus.
  • Knowledge of the benefit requirements and other legal protections applicable mandates and laws within the US.
  • Canadian experience preferred.
