Conference Highlights

The Art & Science of Health Promotion Conference offers a range of events and activities to provide you with a fulfilling experience of learning, sharing and connecting beyond the exceptional educational sessions.

Making Connections

Connect with people who share your professional and personal interests. “Connections” include serious discussions; silly reflections; getting together for a drink, snack or meal; a morning run; or any other activity that brings people together.

Poster Presentations

Meet the authors of some of the latest research and effective programs in health promotion. Posters will be on display all day Thursday and Friday, with designated times for the authors to be available to meet with attendees.

Meet our valued partners who help to make the conference possible. These fine organizations will be sharing the products and services that support you in your work.

Yoga to Energize and Refresh - Carrie Lehtonen

Join Carrie Lehtonen for this mat yoga session to prepare the body and mind for a full day of learning. This session is designed to align the spine and alleviate neck, shoulder and back pain. Plan to relieve tension, and stress while improving flexibility and energy. Carrie's style is accessible to all. 

IntenSati - Alaina Wood

IntenSati is a transformative method combining movement, mantra, and mediation designed to awaken the mind, body and spirit. This unique workout pairs high-energy cardio moves with emotionally uplifting mantras, leaving you feeling connected and invigorated. no equipment is needed, recommended to wear comfortable clothing and footwear for movement and building a positive mindset.

Wednesday: 4:45-5:45 p.m.

Ecstatic Dance - Bob Swoap, Ph.D.

There is no way to do ecstatic dance. Its a free form dance and movement expression. Connect with the your breath, the music and others dancing around you to manage stress and challenging emotions. Leave the session feeling free, letting go, not feeling judged and experience joy!

Unplug & Recharge Moving Meditation - Kira Semanas, NBC-HWC

Use movement and breath to restore the body and mind to a more relaxed state. Release tension through easy, simple movements while breathing deeply to feel grounded at the end of the day. Seated mindfulness will be incorporated.

Thursday: 7:00-8:00 a.m.

Use movement and breath to restore the body and mind to a more relaxed state. Release tension through easy, simple movements while breathing deeply to feel grounded at the end of the day. Seated mindfulness will be incorporated.

 

Body Blast Resistance Band Class - Sam Dolezal, Ed.D., M.S.E, M.S

The class will focus on high energy and low impact, using resistance bands to give you a stellar workout. As a full-body workout, this class includes both tried-and-true exercises as well as new variations to challenge every angle of your physique. Designed for every body, you’ll find a range of modifications incorporated to meet your unique needs.

 

 


Friday: 7:00-8:00 a.m.

Cultivate Connections Between You and Your Body Using Fascial Maneuver - Shari Gallup, M.S.

In this session Shari will discuss what fascial maneuvers are (a mix of intention, movement and breath) and then teach you the four basic maneuvers to help reset the body. The session promises to release tension which can restrict our movements and bodily functions.
