Our Story
The Art & Science of Health Promotion Conference was established in 1990 by Dr. Michael O’Donnell, founder of the American Journal of Health Promotion. His vision for the event was to bring together health promotion and wellness practitioners and scientists across disciplines—including wellness program managers, HR professionals, physical therapists, nutritionists, dieticians, health educators, nurses, entrepreneurs and CEOs—and from a variety of settings—such as workplaces, hospitals, clinics, schools and universities, government and insurance—to learn and share best practices.
More than 30 years later, it remains true to that goal, attracting participants from across the country and around the globe who share a passion for well-being.
In 2020, the conference joined the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, a member organization dedicated to providing the diverse employee benefits community with objective, solution-oriented education, research and information. As our members have asked for more strategic health and wellness education, this conference presents a unique opportunity to bring together plan sponsors and practitioners, narrowing the gap between research and practice and supporting successful workplace wellness programs.
